..Easter Egg Hunt
.For a new twist on an old tradition, try an Easter Egg Hunt, but with money inside the plastic eggs instead of candy (we usually put nickels, dimes, and an occasional quarter).  Then teach the kids the parable of the woman who lost a coin and hunted everywhere until she found it, or the man who found the treasure in the field.  Tell the kids that we are that treasure hidden in a lost world.  Just as there is joy when we find an egg with money in it, so there is joy in heaven when someone comes to know Christ.

Matt 13:44-46
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:   Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Luke 15:3-10
And he spake this parable unto them, saying,  What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?  And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.  And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.  I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?  And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.  Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
A few years ago, I worked for a church that annually did the Easter Bunny thing.  For those of you who do the Easter Bunny, here is a fun skit to do with the Easter Egg Hunt.  If you have a full sized Easter Bunny outfit, just have the Bunny motion with his hands, and the teacher will translate to the kids what he is saying.  If you do not like having the Easter Bunny, any character or puppet will do.

Bunny comes out looking for egg.
Teacher: Hello Mr. Easter Bunny, what are you doing?
Bunny motions that he is looking for something (hand over his eyes.)
Teacher: Are you looking for something?
Bunny shakes his head yes.
Teacher: What are you looking for?
Bunny makes the shape of an egg with his hands.
Teacher: Are you looking for a rock?
Bunny shakes his head no.
Teacher: Are you searching for a bowl?
Bunny shakes his head no.
Teacher: (asking the kids) Do you know what Bunny is looking for?
Kids: The kids should yell out an egg.
Teacher: Are you looking for an egg?
Bunny shakes his head yes.
Teacher: Have you looked all over?
Bunny motions that he has looked high (acts like he is climbing a latter.)
Teacher: You have looked high?
And that he has searched low (gets down on his knees.)
Teacher: And you have looked low?
Bunny then motions that he swept the house.
Teacher: You have even swept the house?
Bunny shrugs his shoulders and then pretends to vacume.
Teacher: Oh, you actually vacumed the house.
Bunny shakes his head yes
Teacher: But you couldn't find the egg?
Bunny starts to cry (hand cover eyes.)
Teacher: What kind of egg is it?
Bunny pretends to hold it dearly to his chest.
Teacher: A very special egg?
Bunny puts hand down to about three inches of the ground,
Teacher: You have had the egg since he were just a little bunny?
Bunny shakes his head yes.
Teacher: What color egg is it?
Bunny goes over to someone who has a red shirt on and points.
Teacher: A red egg?  That reminds me of the story in the Bible of a lady who had ten coins, and when she lost one coin, she lit a candle and swept the house and searched everywhere trying to find it.
Bunny does the I don’t know shrug asking if she ever found it.
Teacher: Did she ever find it?
Bunny nods yes.
Teacher: Yes she did, and when she did find it, she had a party and rejoiced with all of her friends.
Bunny claps and motions that he will have a party too for all the kids.
Teacher: You will have a party  when you find your egg too?  That story me of Jesus, he lost something very valuable to him … us.  And he searches for us every day.  The bible tells us that when he finds one of us, he has a party and rejoices with all the angels in heaven.
Bunny claps.
Teacher: Actually, I found an egg earlier while I was getting ready, is this your egg?  (pull the egg out)
Bunny jumps up and down and gives the teacher a hug.  Bunny then motions that he will have a party and put eggs around the yard for the kids to find.  Bunny motions that he will even put out special eggs like his.
Bunny leaves to go hide the eggs.
Teacher: Bye Mr. Bunny.
